CPR System Spa, a leading company in the production and management of reusable plastic crates for the food sector, faced a significant challenge in tracking its assets. The absence of a precise tracking system caused significant crate losses and made it impossible to guarantee with certainty the sanitisation process of each individual unit, an aspect that is particularly critical for sensitive projects such as the HORECA project with schools. It was essential to develop a solution that would make it possible to monitor the complete life cycle of every single crate, from distribution to washing and reuse.

CPR TRACKING was developed as a complete tracking system based on unique EAN codes, implementing specific features to meet traceability and control requirements:
Individual Tracking System: The system uses the EAN codes printed on each crate to create a "digital identity card" for every unit, recording each movement and process along the supply chain. This makes it possible to monitor the entire life cycle of the crates, from distribution to the customer through to their return to the washing centres. Sanitisation Process Management: The platform records and certifies every stage of the sanitisation process, ensuring that the crates destined for the HORECA project for schools strictly follow the established hygiene protocols. The system verifies that each crate has completed the necessary washing cycle before being reused to transport food.
Asset Monitoring: The software implements an advanced inventory control system that allows CPR to:

The implementation of CPR TRACKING radically transformed crate management for CPR System Spa, leading to significant operational and economic improvements. The system drastically reduced crate losses thanks to precise traceability, allowing the company to identify responsibility accurately in the event of loss or damage. The solution also significantly strengthened hygiene and sanitary compliance, a crucial aspect for the HORECA project with schools. The ability to certify the sanitisation process of each individual crate increased stakeholder trust and made it possible to guarantee higher food safety standards. The accurate tracking system also provided CPR with valuable analytical data on crate movements, enabling logistics optimisations and better planning of the maintenance and renewal of the crate fleet. This led not only to a reduction in operating costs but also to an improvement in the overall efficiency of the service offered to customers.

Born in 1998 from the idea of fruit and vegetable producers to create a cooperation between companies, this system, unique in Europe, stands out for generating efficiency as well as environmental and economic value to be shared along the entire agri-food supply chain.
It is the only example in Italy of a “supply chain company,” capable of bringing together different companies operating in production and distribution, all connected by a cooperative relationship.
Over the years, the system has grown significantly, becoming an organisation that brings together more than 1,000 companies from the agricultural production base, organised distribution and the services and transport sector.
Today it is a leader in Italy in the production, handling and recycling of foldable-sided plastic packaging and pallets.
The solutions offered are constantly evolving, driven by the belief that the continuous improvement of this “virtuous system” and innovation in the circular economy represent the future.
